The CBS-230L has been specially designed by Labtech International to protect your freezer’s contents in the event of an extended power outage or catastrophic freezer failure, by injecting liquid CO2 as an expendable refrigerant into the freezer interior in a controlled manner.

The system consists of a control unit that is placed on top of, or very near to the freezer itself, connected to a user-supplied cylinder of liquid CO2.The control unit is mains powered and has an integral battery which is charged automatically whenever mains power is available. A sensor monitors the freezer’s internal temperature and should this temperature rise above an adjustable pre-set threshold, the backup system injects liquid CO2 via a metering tube to lower the temperature back to a safe level. This cycle continues until either the system is turned off or the liquid CO2 supply or the battery is exhausted, whichever occurs the soonest. Freezer temperature and protection setpoint are shown on an LED display, LED indicators show battery charge state and CO2 injection condition. A safety switch is attached to the freezer during system installation to prevent liquid CO2 injection occurring when the door is open, for operator safety. Other front panel controls include mains power indication, mains power switch, system off/arm switch and an injection test switch.
