NanoDrop 2000c

Dual-mode UV-Vis Spectrophotometer with Micro-Volume AND
Cuvette Capability for Nucleic Acid and Protein Quantitation

The Thermo Scientific NanoDrop 2000c is the only
micro-volume spectrophotometer that integrates a patented sample retention technology for samples as
small as 0.5 µL and a cuvette capability.

  • All the features of the NanoDrop 2000™ Spectrophotometer
    – plus cuvette mode
  • Pre-configured methods for all common Nucleic Acid and
Protein Concentration and Purity measurements, in both modes
  • Custom Methods capability, in both modes
  • Cell cultures (OD600)
  • Kinetic studies (time and 37°C temp) with stirring, in
    cuvette mode
  • Extended concentration range (lower limit 0.4 ng/µL dsDNA)
    in cuvette mode

How It Works

Pedestal Measurements

The patented sample retention system used by the Thermo Scientific
NanoDrop 2000 and NanoDrop™ 2000c allows for the analysis of
0.5 µl - 2.0 µl samples, without the need for cuvettes or capillaries.

With the arm open, a sample is pipetted directly onto the pedestal.

After the arm is closed, a sample column is formed.

The pedestal then moves to automatically adjust for an optimal path
length (0.05 mm - 1 mm).

When the measurement is complete, the surfaces are simply wiped with a
lint-free lab wipe before going on to the next sample.

Cuvette Measurements

The NanoDrop 2000c model includes a built-in cuvette capability. Most
common cuvettes and micro-cuvettes may be used with this instrument
(8.5 mm z-height and 2 mm beam).
